What happens when a group of online merchants are given a platform they're allowed pretty much free reign, with minimal rules & regulations?

The answer to that question can be found by exploring the online selling experiment that is Bonanzle.com.

I did an article a while back on Bonanzle here at the Examiner and promised a follow-up report on how things were progressing there. This would be that report.

The site is crazy! It's crazy in an evangelical way that makes websites and news go viral.

If you think that the above information is relevant to sellers only, read on to find out why this means a better, safer and much more interesting place for bargain hunters to buy than any other on the Internet.

It's official, Bonanzle is the most fun place to sell in the Internet! Sales here won't come in an instant, you have to build a little and reach out to the community.

That said, if you have an interesting product at a fair price, and you participate in the convesation, your sales should start pouring in after your foundation is set.  What conversation?  Just go there and you'll see that Bonanzle is itself a conversation.

There are many good reasons for this, here are a few:
  • The site is super clean and easy to use
  • There's a real-time chat which is a great way to become acquainted with your trading partner
  • The forum boards are extremely helpful and informative
  • The founders continually reach out to the community for input and suggestions
  • You are allowed to sell just about anything and in any format
  • It actually encourages buying in your own neighborhood and makes this easy to do
  • The site has it's own online radio show
  • Most sellers are mult-platform sellers offering a vast user experience.
  • It's a ton of fun

Buying on the site is a delight. The tag line is, “Everything But the Ordinary”, and the sellers pride themselves on living up to that. Oh, you will find some sellers there with very useful and common everyday items, but you'll also see that they have an extraordinary way of serving you.

Some sellers offer freebies, other's offer a volume discount, there are super sales which are called Bonanzles and new to the venue..auctions!

I'm going to have my first auction in my booth on January 24th, Saturday afternoon at 1pm. It won't be an eBay type listing, rather a real live auction with me calling bids via a special edition of the Brainstorming Bonanzle radio show. How exactly it's all going to come together I don't know yet, but I do know this, it won't be ordinary!

OK, now for the Weird Wednesday part of the column:

Remember when Govt. seemed to actually care enough about what we thought to produce a radio show to pitch it's program and policies via an entertaining format? Me neither, but it you'd like to hear how they did it, here's a vinyl lp that will cover that for you.

We all know Social Security is going to be an important issue for many of us in the future, the SS system is almost broken, no one knows if we'll get what we've put into it, and it's a political football.

But back in the 1960s Carol Channing, the quirky comedienne with the crazy voice, did a radio show promoting Social Security.

To find an ongoing collection of prime vintage vinyl at prices that won't bust your bank, you've got to visit this site. Renagades Booth. From B.B. King to the Knack, all tastes are represented.

Here's a closer look at what's on that Carol Channing lp:

Here are a few of my favorite Bonanzle booths:

Everything for Wiccan, from the book of shadows to supplies. Selling you something is second here, helping you comes first.

This seller offers everything from a new 2GB flash to avant garde sculptures. (Bring your coffee, you'll be in this booth a while!)

Victorian die-cuts and more.

Vintage, retro, collectibles and antiques, (my kind of stuff)

A virtual spa, but with a twist. The owner will advise on aroma and alternative well being therapies at no charge!

Think hot-rods, beach wagons, woody's and classic cars, that's this booth.

My Bonanzle booth where I'll have my January 24th auction, You never know what you'll find here. I could even be here just sleeping.

OK, but what do I get out of Bonanzle as a buyer that I can't get anywhere else?  Listen to the show to find out more!
