Nine UMass Minutemen football players earned post season honors today. Seniors Victor Cruz, Vladimir Ducasse, Jeromy Miles and Chris Zardas all earned First Team All-Conference honors from the Colonial Athletic Association. Tyler Holmes, Tony Nelson and Kyle Harrington were named to the second team while Brandon Collier and Armando Cuko earned third team honors.

For Cruz, Miles and Ducasse this is confirmation of their spots on the preseason All-Conference team as well as their second consecutive season being named to the All-Conference first team.

Cruz lead the CAA in receiving yards this past season with 868 yards in 11 games. Cruz had an up and down season for the Minutemen this year. Coming off a two catch 11 yard game against James Madison, he responded with an 11 catch 155 yard performance against Hofstra in the season finale. Victor collected five or more catches six times while breaking the century mark in receiving yards three times. He finishes his career 5th all time in career receiving yards and 4th in receptions at UMass.

Senior defensive back Miles was second on the Minutemen with two interceptions this season and was 9th in the CAA in tackles among defensive backs with 62. His two forced fumbles also tied for the team lead. The defensive captain had five or more tackles in eight of the teams 11 games including nine tackles in the game at Delaware on October 10th.

Ducasse was an instrumental part in protecting quarterback Kyle Havens blind side as the Minutemen put up the 4th most points in the CAA while also allowing the lowest number of sacks in the conference. Since coming to UMass in games in which Ducasse has lined up at left tackle, the Minutemen have had a 100 yard rusher in 22 of 34 games and allowed a total of only 35 sacks.

Senior fullback Zardas was third on the Minutemen this past season with three rushing touchdowns and added a receiving touchdown out of the backfield as well. Zardas recorded his second career multi touchdown game against Stony Brook on September 26. With Zardas as a lead blocker this past season the Minutemen had seven 100 yard rushers this season.
