The music business has been helped by recent releases from Metallica and AC/DC. Now it hopes the return of Axl Rose and Guns N' Roses will help save holiday sales.
Chinese Democracy will be released in the United States on Sunday. It's been 17 years since GNR released new material, so this album - which has been in the works since 1994 - has been eagerly awaited by fans and critics alike.
Of course, this album is more of a solo project, since Axl Rose is the only original band member on Chinese Democracy.
Business prospects for the album have been touted as good, although the recent economic downturn could cloud that outlook. For its part, Dr. Pepper has said it will make good on its promise of a free can of the soft drink if the album was released this year. The offer apparently will be good for those who go to Dr. Pepper's Web site on Sunday and sign up to receive a coupon for a free 20-ounce can.
