?Life is not only good in Baja; it’s very cheap.
A very civilized existence can be had for $1500.00 a month everything included and thousands of
Americans just like you are doing just that. Americans who didn’t believe they could afford to
retire until they investigated Baja.
Expect to pay between $400.00 and $600.00 a month for a house with reliable electricity, hot an
cold running water that you can drink, 2 or 3 bedrooms, 1 ½ baths, and a stunning view of the
blue Pacific.
You’ll pay less than $2.00 a gallon for gas and the skilled mechanic who keeps the buggy
running is happy to get $10.00 an hour for his labor.
You’ll spend a third of what you’re used to at the super mercado (super market) that offers more
variety and superior quality than any market in the North. Imagine grass fed T bone steaks for
$3.25 a pound and free range chicken for under $1.00. You’ll find all American brands in every
product category selling for less here than at your local market. $2.50 a loaf for Orowheat breads,
#2.00 a can for Folger’s coffee, and deep discounts on the peanut butter and jam to go with them.
But, you’ll want to eat out often where you’ll find it hard to spend $20.00 for food and wine at
truly fine restaurants.
