Cats are wonderful animals. Their physical abilities amaze us and their silly antics amuse us. Cats share our homes and our hearts. Cats have an interesting history alongside humans. In some cultures such as ancient Egypt cats were revered, sacred animals and given solemn burials following their death. At other times and places (most notably in Europe) cats were considered capable of bringing evil and bad luck. Even in this day and age with all our knowledge and technology there are some people still uneasy around black cats.
Halloween is a time to have a little fun, dress up as our favorite superhero or monster and enjoy trick-or-treating or walking through a spooky haunted house. For stay-at-home types, its the perfect time for hot chocolate, warm pajamas and a scary movie. Perhaps there's a cat or two curled up beside you on the couch.
Keeping your cats inside during Halloween is a good idea. For virtually all of us, Halloween is a time for good-natured fun but for a few troubled individuals cats become the target of unkindness. So protect your pets by bringing them indoors. They'll enjoy the extra attention and so will you.
Peace to all
