Little Big Town is currently working on a new CD.

The countdown to 2009 CMA Music Festival grows closer, with country acts Little Big Town and Josh Turner announced as the newest additions to the festival’s performance lineup for the nightly shows on the VAULT Concert Stage at LP Field.

The four-day festival, which benefits music education in Music City, will take place Thursday through Sunday, June 11-14, in downtown Nashville. And already, a slew of country favorites has been confirmed for the upcoming summer bill, including some star-studded shows that are free of charge.

"The ramp-up to CMA Music Festival is always exciting as artists are confirmed to perform and participate," said Tammy Genovese, CEO for the Country Music Association. "We love hosting these fantastic artists for the greatest fans in the world."

About Little Big Town
Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Philip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook formed Little Big Town in 1998. Since then, the foursome has achieved hit singles such as "Bring It On Home,"  "Boondocks" and "A Little More You," platinum album sales, six CMA Award nominations and tours with some of the biggest names in music—from Kenny Chesney to John Mellencamp.

The quartet’s most recent album is A Place to Land. However, the Little Big Town players currently are in the studio working on a new album.

Turner boasts one of the best bass voices in country.

Josh Turner at a glance
It’s hard for this country music scribe to believe, but it’s already been six years since Turner’s 2003 debut. The Belmont University grad made a splash with the title cut of his debut album, Long Black Train. Since then, the multi-platinum selling artist has become a radio favorite with hit singles such as "Your Man," "Firecracker" and "Would You Go With Me."

A five-time Country Music Association Award nominee and Grand Ole Opry member, Turner's most recent album for the Humphead label is Everything is Fine.

As for additional performers on CMA Music Festival bill, those artists--in  alphabetical order--also slated to participate in the LP Field-held event include the below, listed by date.

Organizers report that additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows, and surprise guests have also become a hallmark of the festival, enhancing an already star-packed lineup.
