Ice, ice, baby: Carrie Underwood cheers on hockey beau at Nashville Preds game
Country music’s Carrie Underwood apparently was just the good-luck charm that her hockey-playing boyfriend needed last night, Feb. 16, when his team, the NHL’s
Ottawa Senators, took on the Nashville Predators at home.
In a 2-0 win over the Music City team, the 6-foot,1-inch
Mike Fisher, who’s the second-line center for the Senators, skated away with credit for an assist during the game, which pitted the 25-year-old Underwood’s hometown-hockey team against her boyfriend’s team.
Media reports indicate the Canadian-born athlete first met the Oklahoma-born Grammy winner last year following a March 21 concert at Scotiabank Place, where he went backstage to meet the songbird following her performance in front of some 7,700 music fans.
FROM THAT MEETING, the pair apparently began dating sometime soon thereafter, for Underwood’s been spotted among the hockey fans at his games on multiple occasions, and word is they rang in the New Year together, too.
In the past, Underwood was linked with other athletes, most famously, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (who’s now dating /living with Jessica Simpson, as most know), and then more recently, athlete Michael Phelps during the peak of his Olympic success.
When asked about her relationship with Fisher, 28, however, the pretty blond has kept her lips zipped, choosing not to comment on her romantic connection with the Senators' No. 12. But some of the couple’s friends have publicly confirmed that the pair are nuts for one another.
As for the Monday-night Senators versus
Predators game, Underwood publicly rallied for Fisher from her seat in a private box in Nashville's Sommet Center, and when the game ended, she made her way back to the Senators’ dressing room.
During the evening’s hockey battle, though,
People.com reported, “Underwood gripped the edge of her seat as (Fisher) drove the puck to the goal and grimaced and cringed as Fisher was body slammed. At one point, Fisher appeared to look up in her direction and she flashed a smile.”
LOVE ON THE ice beats love on the rocks any day, I’d say. Have fun, you two.
