One form of Baltimore community activism:
"For over a year MVBA has been working very hard to try and eliminate a very problematic nightclub in our community, Suite UltraLounge. Our community organization has done just about everything in our power to try to work with this operator to get them to become a good community partner, without success. As you know, Suite UltraLounge has negatively impacted our community physically, emotionally and financially. Over the past year we have challenged their right to continue to operate because they are such a community nuisance. We've been trough liquor board hearings, sought help through City Council, again worked through liquor board proceedings and then into Baltimore Circuit Court. Now again, we're back to the liquor board to try to resolve this ongoing nuisance. Thankfully Councilmen Bill Cole, Councilman Jack Young and Council President Rawlings Blake recognized the frustrations and impact this club has had on our community and wrote a letter to Police Commissioner Bealefeld requesting a Padlock Hearing, as permitted by City Law. Commissioner Bealefeld has agreed to conduct a public hearing regarding the padlock request.
NOW WE NEED YOUR LETTERS BY NOVEMBER 10TH AND YOUR PRESENCE THE HEARING ON NOVEMBER 16, 2009 AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS BEGINNING AT 10:00AM.
Thank you in advance for helping push this padlock case forward!
Jason Curtis
President
