The Padlock Hearing For Linden Bar And Liquors

August 15, 6:52 AM

I was at the padlock hearing for Linden Liquors on Wednesday. The Baltimore Sun was also there and published a story about it.   I think the Sun paints a confusing picture of who was there.  The room where I was sitting was packed with Korean merchants who do not live in Baltimore City.  There were also some store customers there who have helped turn the owner in to a man who can live in an $800,000 house in Baltimore county.  The store customers have sadly become tools that enable the transfer of large amounts of money out of Baltimore City and in to the counties.  I noticed one Korean business owner had a key chain from Severna Park Racquetball & Fitness Club.  The liquor store owners count on these blind people to continue to purchase overpriced liquor from them and not question their surroundings.  These are the same people that politicians like Jessamy count on to blindly vote for them and accept the status quo.

I could not stay the entire hearing. The lawyers for the store argued about constitutional issues for the first 45 minutes I was there.  The store lawyer is being paid a lot of money.  I assume it would have cost less to hire a security guard at the beginning of the year.  A person I know stayed longer than I did and sent me this email description:

"So apparently they showed the video from inside the store of the murder. They also showed just a few minutes before that, and THERE WERE TWO DRUG DEALS JUST BEFORE IT!! sitting there on camera and Bailey pointed them out. i don't know what they were really talking about with the murder. Anyway Strickland and maybe the store lawyer were arguing that there was no dealing going on inside the place, just outside. but he's the one writing letters to the police for help! and they happen every few minutes, and the police are there testifying, and they've got eight arrests for it! i caught the closing arguments, it sounds like a slam dunk case. but who knows. the commissioner has up to seven days to make a ruling."

The liquor board hearing for Linden Liquors has been rescheduled for September 4th.

There is supposed to be a massive redevelopment project at the Rotunda in Hampden. It has not started yet though. The developers are not worried about the 800 employees of nearby Zurich leaving. If I was a potential retailer who was looking for space... Read More

Section 8 rentals in your neighborhood
