10 November marks the 234th birthday of the United States Marine Corps (Ooh Rah!). In honor of our devil dogs, a few quotes that describe them best:

The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle!
—General John J. “Black Jack” Pershing, USA

…Since 1775 the United States Marines have upheld a fine tradition of service to their country. They are doing so today. I am confident they will continue to do so.
—President Franklin D. Roosevelt

Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem.
—President Ronald Reagan

Panic sweeps my men when they are facing the American Marines.

—Captured North Korean Major

I love the Corps for those intangible possessions that cannot be issued: pride, honor, integrity, and being able to carry on the traditions for generations of warriors past.
—Cpl. Jeff Sornig, USMC

Courage is endurance for one moment more…

—Unknown Marine Second Lieutenant in Vietnam

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!
—Eleanor Roosevelt

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles,
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine...

—Marine Corps Hymn

Thank you, soldiers, sailors, airman and Marines, who tirelessly protect our nation’s freedom at home and abroad.
