Adam Lambert says his tumble during his American Music Awards performance was not planned.
He told MTV News that he thought he probably looked ridiculous but when he looked at the tape of his performance, he was happy about how he recovered.
"My foot got caught on a stand and I hit the platform and I didn't know what was going on,"Lambert told MTV, "and I was, 'okay, I got to get up and turn around' and it was like when you are spraying a cockroach and his legs are going up in the air, that's what I felt I looked like. I thought I looked so ridiculous crazy. But when I went back and watched it I said, 'whoa, ninja roll.'"
He said he said the outcome could have been a lot worse.
"I'm lucky I didn't roll off the stage," the former American Idol contestant said.
"I just can't believe it moved that smoothly and I was up by the next lyric," he added.
