Decision to call 911 on Richmond, California, gang rape was made by group (video)

The decision to call 911 to report that a 16-year-old girl was being  gang-raped outside of her high school was made by a group, ABC7 News reports.  Police say the girl was sexually assaulted for 2 1/2 hours on her way back from her homecoming dance.

The ABC7  reports that a group of teenagers had gathered in a home  to watch a  movie when a young man arrived to say that he heard about the crime from two other young men.

Margarita Vargas made the call but the decision was made a group that included a current student and three former students at Leadership Public School, a small RIchmond charter school.  More details in the ABC7 News video below.
