Tom Nida would like to create a designation called Highly Qualified Trustees which would be individuals that had received specialized training to server on non profit charter school boards. I would like to take his idea a step further and design a program for employees which would provide them with the skills necessary to create high performing charter management teams.  The course would include subjects such as human resources, financial systems and analysis, fundraising, facility management, contracting, and organizational theory.  I imagine these courses being provided on the weekends or in the evening so as to not interfere with the school day.  Upon completion of the necessary classes an individual would receive a certification not much different from those which are offered in my field of radiology.  Continued certification would require the obtaining of a specific number of continuing education credits.

What a great idea for charter support organizations to get behind.  I could easily imagine such an offering from the PCSB, FOCUS, or the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.  All of the groups have a vested interest in seeing charters prosper and grow.
