Taylor Swift, SNL host and musical guest, pokes fun at Kanye, Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner. Singer/songwriter Taylor Swift can now add SNL host to her career resume. The young singer hosted the show Saturday night as well as performed as the show's musical guest.
Ms. Swift began the show with the traditional monologue, except she did hers as a song she wrote, "The Monologue Song (la, la, la)." Her song poked fun at her own music, ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas, potential new boyfriend, Taylor Lautner, and singer, Kanye West, who had jumped up on the stage at the VMA Awards and cut off her acceptance speech. It ended with two "security guards" stepping to either side of her to "protect" her from anything like that happening again here. See the monologue here.
Skits in which Taylor Swift performed included a take-off on the popular Twilight movies called "Firelight." Swift plays "Stella," reenacting several scenes from Twilight with Frankenstein's monster characters standing in for vampires. Other skits or pre-recorded segments included parodies of The View, Jon and Kate Plus 8, Shakira, and herself in braces starring in a "public service announcement" for a made-up organization, "Teens Raising Awareness About Awful Parent Drivers."
Ms. Swift's musical performances included her songs, "You Belong With Me" and "Untouchable."
At 19 (she'll turn 20 in December), Ms. Swift's overall performance on the late night comedy show is earning positive reviews.
