I thought that there would be a good battle for the safety position during the OTAs, but apparently Jimmy Williams will not be a part of it. The cornerback turned safety was released by the team according to Matt Maiocco.
Also, the team agreed to a contract with seventh-round safety Curtis Taylor.the contract is 4-years, $1.8M with a $59,880 signing bonus. I guess we might see a lot more of Taylor in that initial safety battle I mentioned.
I am glad that the team secured another rookie under contract. I would expect the youth movement to take over during camp. Taylor has a lot of upside to his game and he might just find himself as a second stringer if he can keep up with a very interesting core of safeties.
