The Los Angeles Kings announced this morning that the club has signed goaltender Jonathan Quick and defenseman Davis Drewiske to contract extensions. Both players have had their current contracts extended for three years, to run through the 2012-13 seasons.
Quick has started nine of the first ten games for the Kings this season, and has a mark of 6-3-0 with a 3.01 GAA and a save percentage of .893 so far this season. A native of Milford, Connecticut, Quick was invited to the Team USA summer training camp in August. He has started 50 of the last 60 contests for the Kings, and last season posted the third highest rookie season victory total in club history.
Drewiske has started all ten games for the Kings on defense this season, and has registered a goal and two assists this season. Averaging nearly 16 minutes and 20 shifts per game, the Hudson, Wisconsin native has a team leading +6 plus/minus rating, and his 15 blocked shots place him third on the club. The goal he scored against San Jose on October 6 was his first career NHL goal.
The club also announced on Friday that they have called up Scott Parse from their AHL affiliate in Manchester. Parse will wear number 63 for the Kings. In seven games for Manchester this season, Parse scored two goals and nine assists to rank first on the club with 11 points. He expected to join the club in time for the game at Phoenix on Saturday night.
