President Obama, at his Costa Mesa Town Hall meeting, compared A.I.G. to suicide bombers.

Obama defended the bailout of the big banks. Then Obama turned to A.I.G.:

The same is true with AIG.  It was the right thing to do to step in.  Here's the problem.  It's almost like they've got -- they got a bomb strapped to them and they've got their hand on the trigger.  You don't want them to blow up, but you got to kind of talk them -- ease that finger off the trigger.

This is just another example of what happens when Obama is not being remote controlled by reading a teleprompter. 

Imagine the hullabaloo if President Bush or Vice President Cheney had used such a metaphor. It would have been splashed across the front pages and on seen on the evening news. But the Obama A.I.G. - suicide bombers gaffe is only reported in blogs and on Fox News' "Red Eye."
