Research has found that high homocysteine levels in the blood may play a key role in migraine frequency and severity. In test studies those given a vitamin supplement of 2 mg. folic acid, 25 mg. vitamin B6, and 400 micrograms of B12 had significantly fewer migraines than subjects given a placebo . Researchers attribute this relief to the lowering of homocysteine levels in the blood. High homocysteine levels in the blood have been linked to many ailments including cardiovascular and coronary disease, and may increase the risk of a stroke.
Folic acid is found in many herbs such as:
Rose hips, blue green algaes such has Spirolena,Kelp, Dandelion leaves roots, and tops, water cress, red clover, Blue Cohosh,Catnip,Fenugreek,Ginger,Hawthorn, and Licorice root. Herbs rich in B vitamin complex:

Depending on the overall condition of a person and what medications they are on, ( if you are on prescribed medications check for contraindications before using any herb) a herbalist might recommend any of these herbs or a combination of these herbs with other herbs for relief of migraines.
For a list of herbs NOT to take while pregnant
This herbalist would recommend a sublingual folic acid,B6,B12 supplement (available at most large food or health food stores) and pure acai berries. The reason I choose sublingual is because under the tongue means it bypasses the stomach and is directly absorbed into the blood stream. The reason I choose acai berries is that it is a whole food and contains high levels of B Vitamins and other essential nutrients.I prefer that those who come to me for help use foods and herbs to get their nutrition .Our bodies were designed to get nutrition from food and nutrition from foods just works better in my experience. If for some reason acai berries are not available or not liked then spirolina or kelp is a good alternative.
Herbalists have recommended B6 and feverfew with much success for those who have migraines. Any Herbalist knows that good nutrition is vital to restoring health and assisting people with chronic disease conditions.
