Every autumn Baltimore offers a "Free Fall" program that offers free admission to place that otherwise charge a fee for entrance. Given the tough times in which was currently find ourselves it is more important than ever to support this program.

The Homewood Museum offers a 45 minute guided tour between the Homewood museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art. These tours are offered every Saturday through November 7, (weather permitting). The tour times are 1:00 if you are leaving from the Homewood Museum and 2:00 if you are leaving from the Art museum. New this year is the Homewood Museum's website that offers pictures of the walk and allows you to download a podcast as well. To make reservations you can call  410-516-5589 or email museum@jhu.edu

The Baltimore Streetcar Museum is free throughout the month of October. Believe it or not the streetcar used to be a main source of transportation in this city. This museum shows you a restored car and offers a short ride in a streetcar.

The Baltimore Museum of Art is currently open free year round, and they always have great exhibits. Currently they have an Edgar Allan Poe exhibit, as I mentioned in a previous article. You can also visit works by Matisse, Picasso, Courbet, and Degas. There is an outdoor statuary garden and a restaurant, Gertrude's, if you so desire. You don't need a background in art history to enjoy a visit here, just a desire to see beautiful works of art.

The Walters Art Museum is another jewel in the cities crown and is always free. See my article on the Walters for more information. A schedule of events can be found here.

Enoch Pratt, as part of their"Soul of a People" project will have a discussion about Zora Neale Hurston's important work "Their Eyes Are Watching God." You should be able to find a copy of this book at your local Pratt branch. The discussion will take place Wednesday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. and be held at the central branch at 400 Cathedral Street.

The "Poe Project," an interactive play based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe will be held free of charge Thursday October 29 through Saturday October 31st at 7:30. Their will be a 2:30 matinee on Saturday the 31st at 2:30. The performaces will be at the Single Carrot Theater, 120 W. North Street. Free passes are available by emailing boxoffice@singlecarrot.com or by calling 443-844-9523. For more about Poe review some of my former articles found here and here.

The Maryland Science Center (kids love this museum) will offer a chance to tour the museum, see the planetarium, and see a free science experiment, all for free. This is being held Friday, October 30 from 5-8 p.m. at 601 Light street. Note: this does not include the Imax movies.

I hope that there is something here that interests you. Happy exploring!
