The invitation landed in my e-mail:
EXPECT:
A continuous parade of Neapolitan pizza, a veritable river of wine, and a new Via Tribunali....
Who could say no to that???

These days..I've been making the trip to Georgetown more times than I can count. Change is on the horizon...and some of the city's finest places to eat are taking up residence in Georgetown. With Matt Dillon's new project, hearty breakfasts at the Georgetown Truck Stop, and Via Tribunali's new location, I'm considering a move to the neighborhood!
Via Tribunali's latest addition stokes their wood-burning Vesuvius brick oven in Georgetown...cranking out pies in the Neapolitan style. As members of the Verace Pizza Napoletana Association, specific preparation, ingredients and cooking methods combine for some delicious pie.

These pizzas are simplicity at its finest. Hand-kneaded dough, a simple tomato puree, buffalo-milk mozzarella, and a dusting of mushrooms and basil...paired with a cold Manny's from Georgetown Brewery. Really, what more do you want?

A wooden peal full of sliced-so-thin-you-can-see-through-it Salumi, paired with lightly-brined green olives.

At the grand opening...the place was wall to wall people! The building's old world charm, crowds of people with a hug and a kiss hello...it was a scene ripped from an Italian travel guide. Although pizzas were a little hard to come by, I found a perch by the bar...and this fabulous spread...(that naked corner on the right? Courtesy of yours truly...)
And look who stopped by? Salumi founder Armandino Batali.
