Britney Spears' fans Down Under were upset and enraged Friday night in Perth, Australia over her apparent lip-synching. Spears started the Australian leg of her hugely successful "Circus" tour earlier this week.
Radaronline.com says that Spears was three songs into her show Friday night when hundreds of fans started leaving. Fans paid up to $1,500 to see Spears perform live and became incensed when they discovered she was lip-synching.
Fan Amanda Hawlett told the Perth's Sunday Times said she drove two hours to see Spears and left 30 minutes after the show started. "I want my money back or I want her to sing properly," she said.
The uproar over Spears' lip-syching may even prompt a change in legislation. Several culture and art advocate organizations want laws requiring Spears to print on her concert tickets that she does not perform live.
"Hundreds of concert-goers are being duped by turning up to a Britney Spears concert expecting the vibrancy of a live concert but just getting a karaoke session with well-produced videos," Opposition Culture and Arts spokesman John Hyde told the Sunday Times.
Spears performs a second Perth, Australia tour Saturday night. She has 15 sold-out concert dates throughout Australia.
