Homer Simpson is going to cut the ceremonial opening ribbon at the Great American Beer Festival?  Arming Homer Simpson with a giant pair of scissors at a beer festival gives reason for pause.  But we hear that Marge will be nearby to help temper Homer’s mental at this year’s Great American Beer Festival, September 24-26 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.  Blue hair does wonders for relationships we hear.

The Brewers Association, producers of the Great American Beer Festival recently announced The Simpsons will be one of the official sponsors of the festival, coinciding with the celebration of The Simpson’s 20th anniversary this year.

Will Homer be permitted to chug?  Not a chance – one ounce servings Homie – no exceptions and if you misbehave, you’ll be watched from above and offloaded to the chill-out facilities.  You’ll be on your best behavior, even though that’s not asking much of you.

Will Bart and Lisa be permitted entrance?  Not in this show.  21 is 21.  It doesn’t matter that they’re 20 years old and looking kiddish.  Without proper i.d. (everyone 21 and older presents I.D. – no exceptions) proving they are 21 years old they will not be allowed entry.  Security forces will be alerted that Bart may try to pass a sign “Looking for a miracle” as reason for entry.  No dice Bart.  We can arrange a tour of the local meat packing plant for Lisa.  We’re looking for suggestions on where we might be able to send Bart off to, while his parents are responsibly enjoying the festival.

Will there be a Moe’s Tavern within the Great American Beer Festival?  Not likely, but stay tuned because the Springfield Travel & Visitors Center is dreaming up something to promote reasons for you to virtually visit their town through the boob tube and watch all those annoying advertisements that Fox makes their money on.  There now, I think I could be one of the writers for a Simpson’s episode, couldn’t I?.

No there won’t be any Duff Beer at the fest either.  Duff is brewed in Belgium (really!) and doesn’t qualify as an American brewed original – at least as far as the Great American Beer Festival is concerned.

Meanwhile what’s the latest other stuff happening with the Great American Beer FestivalThat’s next.  Tickets supplies are dwindling, the hall is expanding, and there’ll be X thousand beers at the fest.
