Mauricio Segovia
LA Hispanic Headlines Examiner | Bio
Find out more about Mauricio:

Mauricio Segovia was born in El Salvador where he studied education and became a teacher and became involved in politics with the teachers union ANDES 21 de junio. He had to flee from his country due to the civil unrest and violence there. Mauricio immigrated to the United States in 1989. Once in the U.S. he started to learn English and eventually transferred to a four year college, where he started from scratch until he received a BA degree. Then Mauricio started working as a teacher at a high school while attending college in order to obtain a teaching credential and a MA in Education. His life experience as an immigrant, relative success (he still has not fulfilled all his goals), and his academic knowledge give him enough merits to write about politics and life in the Hispanic/Latino community in Los Ángeles.
