Lockheed Martin is working on a hyprid airship - a dirigible.

A February UFO sighting at Bergen County, NJ, is being closed out by Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) Field Investigator Kristen Ann Winslet.

A report was filed February 27, 2009, on a February 25 sighting of a "white to silver disc or cigar-shaped object fairly high in the sky, overhead in Ridgefield, NJ."

Here is the original report from the MUFON witness database.

"I was walking dog in town and looked up into the sky to see a white to silver disc or cigar shaped object fairly high in the sky. Object had a row of about 6 bright amber to gold lights. Looked away from the sky for a moment and the object vanished from sight. The object was silent. This could not be an ordinary plane. While I was viewing the object for about 15- 20 second, the object seemed to slowly and quietly moving through the sky in my direction. The object vanished too quickly to be a plane since there was clear daylight and few clouds in the sky at the time."

Winslet notes that there was one witness in this case. The object had an estimated altitude of one mile, and a degree in altitude of 50. It was described as "slowly and quietly moving through the sky."

Winslet was not able to reach the witness by the phone number provided. Based on the witness account, Winslet began with two theories: First, the object was man made. "The possibility that the witnesses may have seen a Dirigible is quite plausible," Winslet noted, (see photo in the addendum of this report). "As the object moved very slowly and was cigar shaped, with marker lights, one can determine that the object sighted in the sky over Ridgefield, N.J. was man made."

Or a second possibility - that the object is an unknown. "The possibility that the witnesses may have seen an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) in the skies can not be substantiated. As no other reports of such an event have been reported in the area as is reported here, this theory can be discounted. As this was a very populated area, additional sightings would have been reported and thus this theory can not be corroborated by other witnesses."

Winslet's conclusions

"As no other witness(s) to this specific event has been identified and no other possible explanation to this event can be made by this witness or by this investigator based upon the theories provided, I believe that the evidence afforded by the witness is conclusive. The theory that the object sighted was a Dirigible of some kind is quite plausible.

"As a result of this analysis and evaluation of all the evidence provided, I believe that this case file # US-NJ-2009.02.25 baring the introduction of any further substantiating evidence can be considered closed as ‘IFO - Man Made’ in the MUFON Case Management System."
