On more than one occasion now the popular boxing show HBO 24/7 has brought to light the team friction between Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz, trainer Freddie Roach, and conditioning coach Alex Ariza.  All three guys are on the record on national television exchanging verbal jabs back and forth at one another.  The chemistry issue within the team is painfully obvious at this point.

There is one common denominator here, nobody likes Michael Koncz.  Roach on HBO 24/7 called him a "gofer", basically Manny's maid.  Ariza and Koncz both, right in front of the HBO cameras exchanged unpleasantries.  Roach cracked Koncz' position on the team saying, "I don't even know what he's needed for other than to get Manny his food, or to do his laundry."

These verbal exchanges are no longer speculation, they are all there to see and hear right on HBO 24/7. Obviously Manny Pacquiao is keeping Michael Koncz around for a reason.  There may be more than one reason for Koncz' survival on the team.  We can speculate and debate what those reasons might be, but there's no reason to at this point.  The fact remains that as of yet, Koncz isn't going anywhere.

Koncz returned fire at Roach on 24/7 when he proposed that Roach wouldn't be nearly as popular as he is now without Pacquiao, yet Manny would probably be a superstar by now even if Roach wasn't in the equation.  Perhaps that's true, perhaps not, but why even bring that point up?  People usually bring up such indirect insults when they are ticked off at someone, or feel it's justified to do as a means of defending one's self.

There is no doubt that Koncz has been the recipient of multiple attacks, mostly verbal, and one physical.  Alex Ariza a few weeks ago slapped Koncz, and followed that up with a five-punch combination to get his point across.  If that's not a time to do a self examination on one's self than no time is.  When the day comes when you get slapped in the face, and punched five times for a decision that you made, it's time to check yourself.  I am guessing that Koncz didn't wake up that morning and pencil in a beating on his agenda that day, but he got one just the same.

Pacquiao is back in Los Angeles now and things seemed to have simmered down some.  As predicted, once Roach got Manny back to the home-base in Hollywood things would settle down.  The fight is approaching rapidly.  At the end of the day on November 14th we will see who survives in the win column.  Will it be Cotto?  Will it be Pacquiao? Will it be Michael Koncz?
