Hurricane Ida is almost at Category 2 strength with winds of 90 mph. It is passing just offshore of Cancun, and is heading north towards the US. The rainfall expected for Cancun and Cozumel is between 3-5 inches, with isolated amounts close to 10 inches. Ida is passing through safely between Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and western Cuba, limiting any weakening. The storm may get as strong as 100 mph winds, but should weaken as it travels north, but other factors are likely to weaken it before hitting the US Gulf Coast.
