The Author of Lethal Logic, Dennis A. Henigan, is an attorney, and is vice-president of the non-profit Brady Center To Prevent Handgun Violence, and I’d mentioned this in Part I of my book review of his book. As a public interest lawyer, Mr.Henigan must realize how his mission and organization are disrupting the United States. The left in America does not really have anything to say about who has the monopoly on force in this country> it belongs to the citizens and not to our servants. It is not something you can really talk people out of, so the anti-gun movement tries to sway officials instead and looks to the people for support. The left iterates that the debate continues; liberty purists explain that the issue is long settled and only belligerence challenges us without foundation. There is a lot of belligerence in the left. Let me detail how the armed citizen serves the public interest better than non-profits who seek to disarm citizens. (Don’t stop me if you’ve heard this. Just remember that you won’t hear this from anti-gun activists!) 1. Experts in law enforcement, handgun trainers, gun owners and investigators are all on the same page when it comes to one inescapable truth: the target of crime is their own first line of defense. This is true not only in home intrusion, but also in instances away from home. It’s important for the undecided to understand how disaster management greatly involves disaster preparedness and the acceptance of specific realities, and this means anticipating problems. You must be pro-active. Experts I have read with new books out on preparedness this June, advise having weapons to protect not only your life, but your supplies which, by extension, mean your survival. Think the Ant and the Grasshopper. Civil unrest is common in time of even the smaller disasters, and serious-minded expectations and preparedness will be critical to your survival when... you guessed it, you are on your own. Gun control does not seek safer streets, it seeks greater dependency on officials by removing the better tools of weapon and wisdom. 2. One of the best kept secrets of the anti-gun community, one which makes it so very anti-liberty and which they will not share with you, is the fact that you are possessed of all legal authority to defend yourself. We are not talking a right, we are talking about legal authority to act. When the undecided or the anti-gun faction of America thinks of gun control, they do not think of authority control and denying one’s own authority to make their own choices in time of emergency. By listening to the anti-gun crowd, these people have surrendered their right to self-defense by abandoning their authority to take a situation in hand. They have made a choice now (disarming) for an emergency they will experience later (violence). Gun owners instead reserve for themselves that choice by affirming their authority which they will need in a future emergency. D-uh.. Put another way, any citizen has all legal authority to stop a crime in progress under various legal doctrines and laws. One can use up to lethal force when in reasonable apprehension of grave danger, and one may come to the aid of another. One may effect a citizen’s arrest. You see that gun ownership is not only a civil right, it is also the lethal force which can back your authority to stop your own murder, rape or abduction. More to the point, it is a safeguard of the entire United States and always has been. You have to wonder why anyone would ever want to push aside a safeguard of our way of life and of our authority. Understanding this first paragraph is what impeaches all of the left’s straw arguments about guns in the home, concealed carry popularity, theft of guns, accidents, and so-called sensible gun laws. All gun control seeks to obfuscate your authority over violence against you or another. All gun control seeks to obfuscate the legal authority of a whole community. All gun control challenges our supreme authority over our servants. 3. The Founding Fathers knew that the sovereignty of this authority would be challenged more by officials and activists within the United States than by any foreign power. They made the Second Amendment absolute and impervious to ordinary due process for that reason. They knew that future generations would face fake-outs and boondoggles to take the country. Anti-gun and such anti-liberty movements seek then to persuade the electorate to alienate itself from their sovereign authority, but what such activists fail to remember is that this is among the inalienable rights. This means that you cannot give it away even if you wanted to. Smart, those Founders, huh? Nobody said the gun control movement had integrity. This is because the Founders lived under a hard tyranny. We are living under a soft tyranny, but headed for worse as these always turn out. Many who come to America having lived under tyranny admonish Americans not to disarm. Spoiled brats in America urge gun control. 4. Trying to debunk liberty truths as sloganeering, mocking the profundity of the hard-learned lessons, is not a legitimate device to persuade, and only seeks to kill the spirit of independence and the knowledge of sovereignty. Can’t do that if the electorate is too smart for them. Educating the electorate with a realization of values and a path home again from soft tyranny is useful to Americans who are the heir of authority over officials. The best beginning is the realization of how profound these really are; give them a look-see and think them over before refusing to own a gun on your authority.
. When seconds count, police are moments away.
. Gun don’t kill people, criminals kill people.
. Laws do not stop criminals, people choose to stop themselves from becoming criminals. Or not.
. It’s better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it.
. No one can take your place as the first line of defense.
. Crime is not fought by chasing it, crime can only be caught by chasing it. This may speak the language of Justice, but it does not speak the language of safety. Violence is not fought by disarming the citizen, it is fought by being alert, having a plan, and with superior force and authority.
. Realization of the power of the person comes when they fire their weapon for the very first time and understand how they are not to be forced to be on their own by being disarmed and abandoned, but how they prefer to be armed and on their own in independence and personal dignity.
. A free people does not need government as much as government might like to ‘give’.
Guns are not about guns, they are the lethal force which backs our sovereignty and legal authority from political boondoggles which would talk us out of our rightful heritage of authority.
The summation of the book Lethal Logic is that education of the electorate is somehow lethal to them, but it is not mere logic: logic implies a conclusion subject to debate, and leftists love debate because it gives them another toss of the coin wherein they may (eventually) score a win. But these are never wins for the people, they are always wins against the people. Gun control kills.
Should educating the electorate with facts and sovereign survival paralyze gun policy? You better believe it. The second amendment is our best ‘gun policy’. It is the first Homeland Security. It is all the permit one needs for a concealed weapon. More than logic, educating the electorate is vital before refusing to own a gun and thereby denouncing your own legal authority and sovereignty with it.
