For years, liberty purists and gun owners have asked why we don’t have Knife bans and why all the hooplah is only about guns. Well, surprise, surprise, they’re likely coming for the knives now as per a WorldNetDaily story by Bob Unruh. "They" may never really ‘come for you’, but when something is legal today and arbitrarily made illegal tomorrow, you’ve been had and didn’t even know it.

The process comes when someone introduces a concept and master prosecuting bodies or assigned agencies get the last word in how it all shakes out. The agencies may post that they are taking comments, but once they get ahold of it, they never let go and soon the concept of carrying a pocket knife with you will be illegal.

It’s a societal mistake to regulate and then to come after anything, and I’ll say why. When anti-gun activists try to mock gun ownership and gun owner apprehension about soft tyranny of the type we are seeing today, they like to carp out loud about how anyone is going to stop the Army when they come for us. ..almost as if they are gleefully looking forward to it. (Did you ever get the idea that some in this country are actually looking forward to a Police State?)

First, it probably won’t happen that way. There won’t likely be any confrontations between citizens and their own troops. It will be more subtle, such as coming to arrest violators of things which aren’t illegal at this time, but are becoming illegal. The pocket knives are the latest example. Soon, it will be what you eat or refuse to eat, or refuse in the way of a microchip or vaccine. Officials loathe independence. It means you don’t have to listen to them on issues where they have no such authority.

Rather than shoot-outs with troops, the result will be more that of officers to come a-calling while neighbors watch because they cannot relate to your situation of too many parking tickets, or refusing that chip, or refusing that diet, or anything, and they’ll mutter that he probably brought it all on himself, since they heard him complain about too much government.

You see, the agencies charged with deciding ultimately decide against the will of the people. Instead of taking No for an answer, they invite comments, but will still not reject the idea as an interference with our liberty. This is soft tyranny. They’re going to get their way instead of our getting our way.

Soft tyranny.

Why it’s a mistake to make guns and pocket knives illegal is because they just telegraphed this exact blueprint to America that our fears are coming true. Soft tyranny is here.

In the United States, you can see the second amendment’s function against this kind of tyranny at work; the armed citizen totally discredits many anti-crime policies which don’t work because that is not where crime is fought. Crime is fought the moment it strikes. Crime is caught after it has struck and done its damage. This may speak the language of Justice, but it does not speak the language of safety and sovereignty. Forty-eight states affirm your right to carry a handgun, but the big cities punish it. It wouldn’t do if the big city populace got the idea they didn’t need so much of what the government wants to ‘give’. Gun control obfuscates one’s authority to act; crime grows and dependency on officials grows. Unwelcome. Unconscionable.

You can also see the dangers of gun control in operation with every bold criminal shooting, or any violent crime for that matter. Each crime is a failure of absentee anti-crime policy, foisted on people when murder, robbery, and mayhem are already illegal. Now, it might as well be illegal in some locales to fight crime. It wouldn’t do for the populace to discover the fact that they have the authority to stop a crime in progress. It might lead to more independence from their public servants.

You can also see the gun control formula in operation in the pocket knife scandal, the idea of identifying a so-called crisis, freezing the citizen out of the crisis, and mandating a poorer, soft tyranny solution for all, including those who are independent and self-sufficient. This criminalizes the honest and no longer distinguishes the criminal who uses a knife (robbery or stabbing) from the average Joe and Josephine Taxpayer. It will be the gun control formula which is the blueprint not only for regulating knives, but also other issues, getting around to national health care. Follow health care closely. Crisis; freezing the citizen out of the solution; mandate for all. Haven’t you noticed how officials are getting very good at excluding opposing views?

.. that is not where crime is fought. Crime is fought the moment it strikes. Crime may be caught after it has struck and done its damage. This may speak the language of Justice, but it does not speak the language of safety and sovereignty.

You see, friends, it’s not about guns, and it’s not about pocket knives, it’s all about Independence from our servants. Any debate about our independence won’t be fought with guns or knives, but ensured and protected by the armed citizen in a very American way: the armed citizen simply discredits the need for so many programs.

Without this respect for both the citizen and the law, soft tyranny will prevail, and it will kill the nation.
