Bigger government has become the bane it was always feared it would be. Today, tens of millions are experiencing what our Founders faced and defeated in forming this country in an escape fro tyranny. Today, our government pro-actively disparages citizens to divide people. It is writing new laws to punish people like you and me. It has even gotten to the point where law enforcement returns ‘reports’ and warnings disparaging patriotic citizens back to the Cabinet Officer who sent them. Other military and police have stated publicly they will not obey orders to confiscate food, weapons or other items against both the Constitution of the United States and the public interest. Examiner Daniel White reports an interesting event scheduled for April, 2010. It is called the Second Amendment March.

Between now and the March next year, every household must think of our adversely changing political environment and how this will impact the safety and independence of our families.

Though the household may know what they need to know about life insurance, accident, root canal, food costs and the price of a gallon of gas, just how the household will prepare to meet, manage and survive an encounter with violent crime is the most neglected area of household management.

The armed citizen has a tremendous impact on protecting not only self and loved ones, but also liberty in the sovereign’s monopoly on all lethal force in this country. That would be you and me. As the sovereign, we have oversight and authority over police, the military and Congress, not to mention little governments here. There is a tremendous threat to our freedoms when that sovereignty is challenged by our own public servants, and backed by the force of police and military which we ourselves grant them from one election to the next. The armed citizen and our liberty on all levels are inextricably bound only when we are armed and respected as the sovereign. What we are witnessing in 2009 is a profound disregard and disrespect for our sovereign authority, and millions outside of those 80 million gun owners have begun to notice this.

Before you refuse to own a gun, you might tike to know what it is about guns that draws more than 80 million Americans and is drawing more every day. My first series here at Examiner – what it is about guns isn’t even about guns – lays it out, and to put it simply, it is about carrying our own burdens and not relinquishing the carrying of those to others. Demagogues promise paternalism and wind up doing a rotten job of it. As a value, gun owners know that no one can take your place in many things, and that demagoguery leads only to more slavery, spelled d-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-c-y. It is one of my most popular essays over the last few years.

Before you refuse to own a gun, you might ask why officials are so vicious about gun ownership of 80 million Americans who are not committing crimes, with guns or without guns. As a citizen about to make an important decision for yourself and family, the place to start would be why officials want to take guns, over-regulate them or mess with our civilian ammunition supply.

Before you refuse to own a gun, you’ll probably want to look your kids in the eye and know that without official respect for the electorate today, your children will live under complete dependency on government tomorrow.

The kind of person who owns a gun prefers to rise to the obligations of the sovereign in this country as only individuals can. The kind of official who frustrates this authority wants to be the sovereign over you, and this is how gun control profoundly affects non-gun owner Americans. Before you refuse to own a gun, you need to see clearly that the war is not to fight crime by disarming you, it is to fight Independence by disarming you.

Liberty is under attack because we are the sovereign. The move is on to convince people that guns... no, Independence – is dangerous. Independence from our servants is not dangerous for citizens, it is what America is all about. This is what gun control is all about.

Before you refuse to own a gun, you need to address how you will meet, manage and survive an encounter with violence. Crime is the excuse to usher in gun control and all of the costly and oppressive so-called anti-violence measures as if crime were intractable, as if Hate permeated every single institution in America. Are you alert enough? Do you want to resist and fight back? Do you have a plan? Many who cannot stomach even the notion of resistance to violence become statistics. Less-than-lethal concepts (car keys, pepper spray, dogs, shock devices, cell phones, screaming, baseball bats, burglar alarms, whistles) all seem somehow personally tolerable and guilt-free, but don’t have much stopping power at the moment they are needed most. They’re attractive for that guilt factor: the guilt factor that one cannot hurt another while being hurt. This thinking can adversely affect whole communities, and where it might not, it is nevertheless forced on them then, in gun-free zones. While they’re thinking of how they could never hurt another person, millions every year become hurt by someone who has no such compunction: violent thugs and the administrators who pave the way for them.

The armed citizen does not shoot to kill, but shoots to stop and only if necessary, and restraining others today from making their own decision when they need to tomorrow certainly hurts others in a very ugly political attack. Gun control emanates from a minority who claims they could never hurt another person, but they hurt millions by disarming them.

America does not have the stomach for war." — Saddam Hussein.

America needs the courage to resist being disarmed and of being talked out of all our liberties. And as millions more are getting it and finding the courage to tell officials that they want to be independent from them, they are met with more and more official resistance from our own servants. Why?

I recommend following the news about the Second Amendment March between now and the event. Set your Search Engine alert parameters to Second Amendment March to receive e-mail alerts on the topic. Because you are head of household, and the armed citizen plays a vital role in keeping you as head of your household.

Liberty.
