I just answered a few comments on the website KeepAndBearArms.com where we are very kindly posted from here. Thanks to KABA for their friendship. These remarks on that forum were about this topic, the Republicans and how little they have done. Many Americans seem to distrust Republicans immensely, and I get why. believe me, I get why. I am among them.
I don’t like the Republicans because they have let us down when they had promised so much in the way of values and liberty by way of reducing government. I have said that they are anatomically incorrect: they lack backbone. For them, courage takes a back seat to etiquette and going along to get along.
But I wrote on the KABA forum that this is also the opportunity to educate them and instruct them, to exercise our sovereignty over them. Yes, over them. I said, "Understood what the R's have failed to do, but this is a chance to explain it to them. The very first thing they need to comprehend is that they do not explain it to us, we explain it to them. If they do not sit still, hear us, and act on our sovereign direction, to hell with them.
"But we need to try... Who knows? We might get some real patriots in office if they believe they would have the support from the electorate."
And that’s what this is all about. We may attract superior candidates if they understand that they would have superior support from the electorate. You’ve read me before on the subject of how voters lodge their protest by no-shows at the polls. They sit out the election. Many are not even registered to vote. Real smart. No-shows telegraph to candidates that they’re wasting their time running for office.
Are they? As long as the electorate doesn’t get involved in who runs, we’re toast. Voters are tired of limited choices, but who chooses? We can.
As I said, now is the time to explain it to them. Now is the time to explain what we need in supporting liberty by repealing tons of anti-liberty gun laws as among the very first items on the agenda. Now is the time to hear how candidates feel about citizen authority, the armed citizen, how crime is fought and not just caught (or not) and how little some corners of government are really needed.
Candidates will find widespread support if they run on the platform of wholesale cut-backs on needless programs, you know, those that destroy the personal dignity of people and deepen the dependency on officials. If you have any questions, Washington, call me.
Republicans stand for the Republic, and that means many things people will support by the millions. All the Republicans need to do is what the Republic needs, not what the party needs.
The scary part for liberals is that they could be on their own. The best thing for the liberty nuts is that we are on our own. The best thing for candidates is to make sure we’re left alone.
What’s scary for officials is that the rest will take care of itself and they may not be needed. But until that day comes, there is much to do and plenty of job security in reducing government.
That would be a whale of a platform, wouldn’t it?
