"Cheers" fans, listen up. Cliff Clavin wants to be a Senator. It's true. John Ratzenberger is considering a run for the U.S. Senate in 2012 in Connecticut, according to a report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Ratzenberger started his potential campaign by casting his lot with conservative Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty at a $5,000-a-plate dinner that launched the new Freedom First PAC on Wednesday night. Ratzenberger said he would support Pawlenty if he runs for president:

Right now, I'd endorse him for president."

Pawlenty did not comment on Ratzenberger's potential Senate campaign, but you have to wonder if he would want to be associated with a man who is seen by the public as a clueless, know-it-all postal worker. Then again, looking clueless on TV didn't seem to hurt Sarah Palin's conservative support base, so who knows?
