Most clear thinking Americans view the Ft. Hood massacre for what it is: a disturbed, Islamic radical enacting a jihad on U.S. soldiers.  Our country's foremost leftists are not clear thinkers.  They have shown a disturbing trend of making excuses and blaming others for Nidal Malik Hasan's act of terrorism.

Let us start with our Commander-in-Chief.  Obama used Tuesday's memorial service to try to show his sympathy and compassion for the victims.  However, his initial reaction was completely lacking of both.

On the day Hasan murdered 14 people (including an unborn child) and wounded dozens others, the White House was notified almost immediately.  Later that afternoon, the media was told President Obama would speak about the tragedy prior to a previously scheduled event.  The NBC station in Obama's hometown of Chicago describes his utter lack of tact:

"Instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event.....the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting."   Watch the entire video below

Obama's actions were no better over the weekend.  While former President George W. Bush and wife Laura visited the wounded soldiers and families of the Ft. Hood tragedy, Obama was belittling Tea Party protesters by using vulgar sexual references, and calling them "extremists".   Then he went to Camp David to relax

Obama's minions in the media have behaved no better.  Here are just a few examples:

  • MSNBC's Keith Olbermann has repeatedly made excuses for Hasan by saying he was the "victim of a hate crime".  Someone keyed Hasan's car.  In Olbermann's world, that is good enough reason to go on a killing spree.
  • Keep in mind, when abortion doctor George Tiller was murdered, Olbermann spent a full hour ranting about the dangers of domestic terrorism and calling it a religious jihad.  When an Islamic radical commits mass murder, there is no mention of terrorism or jihad, and we are reminded repeatedly that he was the victim of a "hate crime".  No hypocrisy there.

Olbermann is not alone in trying to blame Hasan's terrorism on someone or something else:

  • MSDNC, in a headline on their website: "He was mistreated.  He didn't have nobody.  He was all alone."
  • Columnist Gwynne Dyer finds a way to blame George Bush:  "America's wars in Muslim lands overseas are radicalizing Muslims at home."
  • The New York Times and various other outlets blamed "second hand PTSD".

Other liberals in the media were more upset that Hasan is a Muslim than they are about the 14 people killed.

  • Newsweek editor Evan Thomas: "I cringe that he's a Muslim. I mean, because it inflames all the fears. I think he's probably just a nut case. But with that label attached to him, it will get the right wing going and it just -- I mean these things are tragic, but that makes it much worse.
  • NPR's Nina Totenberg: "It really is tragic that he was a Muslim."
  • Time Magazine, in a headline: "Is Nadal Malik Hasan's Religion Relevant?"
  • ABC's Martha Raddatz: "I wish his name was Smith."

There are numerous other examples of the media's abhorrent reaction to this tragedy.  Here are the facts: Hasan is a radical Muslim who tried numerous times to contact Al Qaeda.  The Fort Hood massacre is an act of terrorism committed by a jihadist.  The liberals' excuses and penchant for blaming others are beyond disgraceful.
