People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) will send President Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly indoors and then release it to nature. The gift comes after the President swatted and successfully killed a fly during a television interview.

During a Tuesday interview with CNBC reporter John Harwood, a fly buzzed around the President and he managed to kill it with one swat. "Now, where were we?" Obama asked Harwood, adding, "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker."

PETA officials are pleased with the former Senator’s voting record on behalf of animal rights and recognize that he has spoken out against animal abuses. However, killing a fly on TV was not acceptable to the organization’s leaders, and they would have preferred that he not do that.

The White House has no comment on the incident or PETA’s response.
