Canadians: This is the wrong way to cross the United States border

Forgetting that most of them aren't Muslim, the United States' new restrictions on Canadians entering the home of the free and the land of the brave took effect earlier this week.

Packaged under the guise of "showing U.S. and Canadian citizens travelers how to benefit most from their new Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative-compliant documents," the good folks at  U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have released three videos to educate us:

  • one for the visually impaired
  • one for the hearing impaired
  • one for the rest of us who it just considers stupid

I've never been to Ottawa so I can't speak to the intelligence of Middle Canada, but having been to Middle America, I understand the CBP's skepticism.

The United States has gone 2,822 days without the government's much promised terrorist attack, domestic terrorism by crazy-ass Christians not included (it ain't terrorism if Jesus is the reason for the treason). Hopefully these changes to border-crossing policies won't change a thing.

Concerned about your tax dollars being spent on a movie beneath anyone with sufficient intelligence to pass a drivers test? Contact Joanne Ferreria at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Press Office: 202-344-1780 or joanne.ferreira@dhs.gov.

For more info: Read the details about the new document requirements that will make us all sleep safer.
