The feat of a true fashionista is mixing high end with budget in a way that takes into consideration comfort, style, glamour and the ongoing recession.  No other first lady has been able to rock runway styles like Michelle O.

From Thakoon to Narcisco Rodriguez to Jason Wu, Michelle O takes the prize for seamless adaptation.  In a series of posts, we will examine how Michelle O has effortlessly transformed runway style to mainstream style.

Most of us never know what to do with runway dresses.  They seem more comical than practical, but Mrs O has shown that with some tweaking, runway works for mere mortals.  Thanks to Michelle O, several runway styles are now offered at some of your favorite boutiques.  Our first runway pick is the Thakoon Kimon dress Michelle O wore to the Democratic National Convention.
