In the beginning there was Conservatism, or at least that’s what members of the newly formed Conservative Bible Project would like the world to think.  The group cites a few reasons why the Holy Bible in their opinion is too progressive: "A lack of precision in the original language” ... “A lack of precision in modern language" and "Translation bias in converting the original language to the modern one."  In other words according to members of the Conservative “Bible Project”, the King James Bible as written, portrays Jesus Christ too much as a “bleeding heart liberal”.  www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/05/conservative-bible-projec_n_310037.html

OK, its time for responsible Conservatives to hold a VIP meeting at their premier  Conservative “Think Tank” wherever that may be (perhaps at former VP Dick Cheney’s underground steel fortified retreat in Wyoming) and say “Enough is enough, stop the madness, hey guys and girls, to the rest of the civilized world, we look like bafoons”.

As some Conservatives have gone about their business of trying to dehumanize President Obama www.inquisitr.com/26315/tennessee-senators-aide-caught-sending-racist-obama-e-mail/ , mediamatters.org/research/200909030013 by glorifying Conservative political pundits who constantly spew hate, ignornance and hypocrisy towards the President and the Democratic Congress, it is quite evident that the Conservative Party is in desparate need of a real leader who has real ideas that can deliver them from the “wilderness” and can once again help make the Republican Party a Party that is honored and respected.

Let me make this perfectly clear, this idiotic idea to re-write the Bible so that it better suits Conservative idelology is not indicative of how all Conservatives think, however, somewhere before taking a “wrong turn at Albuquerque”  (Thanks Bugs Bunny) the Republican Party has clearly been hijacked by Far Right Religious Neocons that are determined to eliminate any Biblical reference of love and compassion that was taught by Jesus Christ that does not fit their political agenda.

The Party that has embarrassed America by embracing the “Birthers” movement, supported crazies that carry guns to Presidential rallies (What’s next carrying guns to parks and recreational centers?) turned a blind eye to Far Right wackos who believe that President Obama is actually a Muslim “Manchurian Candidate” who happens to also be the Anti-Christ, now gives us “Jesus Christ the Left Wing Hippie”.  America and the world can only wait and see what will be edited from the most read book in the world.  Will it be the verse that reads “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God”, or will it be the passage that states "He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God”.  I’m not sure but don’t these Bible verses contradict “today’s” Conservative ideology?

This commentary is not intended to insult all Conservatives but rather to highlight what the Party of Lincoln has become.  Sound off Louisianans, do you think that re-writing the Holy Bible in order to fit a political agenda is acceptable?  This article is not about promoting one political ideology over the other, it is about recognizing that in America, there is a separation between Church and State.
