Tonight, I was granted the chance to partake in the meet and greet with Grammy award winning singer, Robin Thicke. This event was hosted by Music City's 101.1 fm The Beat Jamz WUBT radio station in the heart of Nashville, TN.
In the beginning, selected fans for the dinner/ meet and greet mixed and mingled and ate a variety of finger foods from egg rolls, cheeses, chips and dip and the drink of choice Red Bull. ( It seemed to be one of the promotions of the evening.)
Upon entering the room, there was a happy and joyous feeling mixed with laughter.Thicke's fans waited in line patiently to meet and take pictures with him. (There were families, couples, and single ladies.)
He embraced each of his fans accordingly, with a smile, hug, hand shake and even a peck on the cheek for a few of the ladies. He definitely made his impression on the ladies and left a stamp of approval in Music City.
After giving his attention to his fans, he went on the stage and announced his new album, “Sex Therapy,” will drop December 15, and that its a feel good album cure the stress and worries of everyday life. He also, provided a signature dance and thanked all of his fans for their love and support over the years.
According to MTV, his new album “Sex Therapy,” is sure to be successful with features from new and legendary artists like West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg, NY rapper Jay-Z, R& B singers Jasmine Sullivan, and Estelle to name a few.
When speaking with Thicke, I had to ask him his favorite song. He revealed, “You never have a favorite it’s always the last song you do. My favorite song off the album right now would be “Two Love Birds.”
As a Robin Thicke fan, you can honestly see his music evolution. ( I recall his first concert, in 2007, opening up for Beyonce and singing a couple of songs. Then this spring, he opened up for Jennifer Hudson and I noticed his growth as a artist, stage presence and more variety in songs.)
Thicke said, “I will be going on a promo tour in some major cities in December and then I will start touring in February or March.”
It is evident, Thicke is making his mark on the music scene and personally with his soulmate and biggest supporter his wife Paula Patton who is due in May 2010.
As we talked, he painted a vivid picture in saying, “My goal with the baby and my wife right now is to rub her belly every night and make the baby feel loved and make the mama feel loved.
This will be their first child. I had to congratulate him and ask him about the baby of course.( When we talked about the baby you could see the happiness and thrill in his eyes. I think he will make a great father!)
Although, he didn’t know the baby’s gender, Thicke offered me possible name choices for the new addition.
Thicke said, “If it’s a girl maybe Isabella, and if its a boy maybe Julian or something like that.”
