The intense love triangle between vampire Edward, werewolf Jacob and their human love interest Bella appears to be heating up on the Vancouver, B.C. set of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” as the fifth week of filming comes to a close. The war between the good vampires – and a bloodthirsty pack of newborn vampires also appears to be taking shape, as director David Slade takes the third movie in the hit series in a darker direction.
Production on the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s third book in the Twilight Saga is moving swiftly – and fans have eagerly been following the process, as they watch and listen for word that some of their favorite scenes are coming to life for the big screen adaptation.
They’ve been getting some of that word directly from Slade – who’s been Tweeting about the filming process from day one. This week, he shared a few choice moments that will surely have fangirls squealing. That includes news that one day of filming involved Taylor Lautner (Jacob) carrying Kristen Stewart (Bella) for several hours:

Fans know this scene is likely from Chapter 21 “Trails” when Jacob carries Bella to a remote camping site, in hopes that his werewolf-y smell with throw off the newborn vampires that are after Bella. And last weekend, Slade mentioned that crews were filming the big scene when Jacob and Bella kiss:

Slade also Tweeted about filming scenes with the Cullen family and the wolves:

Blogger Malicious Mandy wrote that the scenes mentioned in Slade’s Tweets likely involved the scenes in Chapter 18 “Instruction” and Chapter 19 “Selfish” when the Cullens teach the wolves how to fight newborn vampires.
Radar Online even snapped some photos of Peter Facinelli half-in costume as Carlisle Cullen, with some of the wolf pack behind him (wearing bathrobes). Facinelli also took to Twitter to update fans on what he was up to, even snapping a photo of the surrounding woods:

Meanwhile, Malicious Mandy and fellow blogger Vancity Allie captured all the action later when filming took to the city’s waterfront for a scene involving lots of extras wearing red contact lenses. Translation: these are the newborn vampires.
Vancity Allie has some of the best photos, which show the newborn vampires emerging from the water:

On her blog, Vancity Allie says that Xavier Samuel as the vampire Riley (one of the bad guys) leads the newborns out of the water. She also reports that actress Jodelle Ferland, who also plays one of the newborn vampires, was on set.
Fans may be scratching their head over this one – since the book does not contain any scenes in which the newborn army emerges from the water. But Malicious Mandy notes that this could be just one way Slade is taking the film in a darker direction, and giving it a more cinematic, visual appeal. Based on these set pictures, it definitely looks appealing.
Filming continued Friday – and though details about what scenes were shot aren’t available as of this publication, Malicious Mandy noted that most of the main character's vehicles were gathered at the set for Jacob's house. She surmises the scene is when Carlisle comes to fix-up Jacob after he is hurt during the fight with the newborns. Good guess, in my opinion.
Meanwhile, Facinelli took some time out of filming Friday to share a special treat with his Twitter followers. Dedicated Twilight fans know that the series’ biggest stars – Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart – don’t have Twitter accounts, despite the numerous posers out there. But to thank all of his followers (nearly 1,000,000 in all!), Facinelli got Pattinson to post a little message:

While production continues on the third movie in the series, the excitement over the release of the second movie – “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” – has fan frenzy at an all-time high. Last Sunday night, MTV debuted a new, extended trailer for the movie:
