Kris Allen lost the guitar and went for the keyboards.

Sorry Megan, you looked great and it's been a fun run but with that said, we'll see you on the Idol's Tour. Covering Bob Marley Joy didn't sing the song badly but she's hardly stood out at all during the competition. Anoop looked angry. Don't ever sing Usher again Anoop, you probably won't get the chance much longer anyway. The performance fell flat, Anoop brushed off the judges criticisms like always and I looked forward to a commercial break.

The good stuff was plentiful tonight. Danny Gokey sang Rascal Flatts like a champ. The man has immense passion and vocal chops. He sings each and every week straight from the heart and it shows, a very transparent cat. Scott Macintyre improved his chances immensely tonight borrowing "Just the way You Are" from Billy Joel. Granted it wasn't over the top, he didn't change a thing. What it was though was stripped down and earthy, just vocals and piano and that was his sweet spot.

The nights most incredible performances belonged to Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. Lambert played Wild Cherry's "Play the Funky Music." and nailed each and every note. He took a thirty year old song and made it into a rock gem. Some of his vocal fills and runs were amazing and his stage prowess looks as though he's been a rock star forever, totally amazing.

Kris Allen equaled Lambert's momentum, taking Bill Withers "Ain't No Sunshine" to another level. The cut oozed with  radio play. Allen turned the song into a contemporary R&B joint. In addition his run on the piano brought a twist that was fresh and cool.

The funniest moment of the night when was Kara DioGuardi told Adam Lambert that she imagined hearing his rendition at Studio 57, duh, it was Studio 54 Kara, good one!
