As a sportswriter for 30 years, Day has taken laps in an 800-horsepower racecar, covered a Texas high school state championship baseball team, exchanged forehands with tennis historian Bud Collins, taken a limousine ride with former Oakland Raiders defensive end Ben Davidson and ridden an elevator with International Tennis Hall of Famer Jimmy Connors. Day helped build World of Outlaws Racing into the world leader in sprint car racing and the fifth-largest auto racing organization as the series’ Director of Public Relations for 17-plus years.
