Hitler sex video inspires outrage

It's apparently designed to inspire shock and to make an impact, and it's doing just that. A new AIDS awareness video is comparing Adolph Hitler and the genocide of millions of Jews in WWII to the HIV virus and the millions of deaths caused by AIDS.
The video was created by a German-based AIDS awareness group called Regenbogen (which means "rainbow"). The clip, titled "AIDS is a mass murderer" shows a couple having sex, and at the end, the man is revealed to be Hitler. The point of the video is to demonstrate the dangers of having unprotected sex, and is scheduled to air on German TV and in movie theaters later this month.
Some in the Jewish community have expressed shock at the video. Says Stephan Kramer, secretary-general of Germany's Central Council of Jews: "Hitler sells. Shock therapies are the popular means in the media world to attract attentions. They did indeed succeed. However, the collateral damage – to use a term we hear quite often – is also there...It's an insult to the victims of the Nazi era, among them gays and lesbians who were sent to concentration camps in the thousands."
AIDS organizations and charities, including Britain's National AIDS Trust, also criticized the clip as stigmatizing of people living with HIV.
The head of Regenbogen, Heiko Schoessling, defended the video, saying, "We're trying to tell people, that while interest in AIDS declined over the last few years, the number of people with AIDS in actually going up."
According to the Telegraph, Hans Weishäupl, creative director of the committee that produced the video, says, "A lot of people are not aware that Aids is still murdering many people every day. They wanted a campaign which told young people that it is still a threat,” he said. “In Germany, Hitler is the ugliest face you can use to show evil”.
