It actually is a bit unsettling that at this juncture, Mrs. Clinton has to listen and learn. What is she going to learn that hasn't been said already? or better yet demonstrated, which sometimes completely contradicts what's been said?George Mitchell has been in the region twice so far, and met her in Sharm-el-Sheikh for the Gaza Donor's Conference. Do they talk to each other? I'm sure he has briefed Hillary Clinton on what he learned from his visits all around the region. Though she's been very tight lipped on this visit, one small breakthrough that may speak volumes was her handshake to Syrian foreign minister Walid al-Mualem.
In the meantime, Iran, Syria and Amnesty International have all accused Israel of war crimes, and the former two, as well as Turkey have independently launched investigations and filed complaints including one that requests permission to bring to trial 19 of Israel's top leadership.
