Hugo Chavez made headlines when he booted the Israeli ambassador from Caracas.

But this is only the beginning, and the US cannot stand by and let this happen. Sources which cannot be revealed because safety is a factor have confirmed that attacks are expected on Jewish businesses, schools, community centers, and perhaps Jewish nationals that have risen to prominence in the capital city of Caracas.

The headlines in Caracas are not shouting this out, but dig deep, and one oped called "Mujer Analitica", or Women's Analysis, pens an unmistakable warning: "Cuidado! Antisemitismo en Venezuela", which is a warning of what is to come.

The author gives a short history of those who fled persecution and found refuge in Venezuela, settled there, and contributed greatly to society. She claims that everyone in Caracas knows of at least one Jewish person, be it a friend, neighbor, a doctor or businessman.

Whether this is due to Chavez' own delusions, or his relationship with another dangerous anti-semite, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is relevant. It is a result of U.S. foreign policy, as dictated by Bush, not to engage with our enemies. Surely, this is not a policy that should be perpetuated by the Obama leadership.

Now that we know what is "going down", it might help those Venezuelan Jews if we were to put some pressure on the government who will certainly wash its hands of any violence that might occur.
