What we posted Wednesday:
The huge news were the two McCartney concert tour dates for Tulsa and Dallas that you heard about first here, thanks to a sharp-eyed tipster. It became even more interesting when the dates were removed after our report. All the details are in the posts above.
And there are, in our opinion, some interesting parallels in the shock Jackson fans and Lennon fans felt when they heard the news in each case. It was something we'd thought about for a couple of days. Our thanks to all the Beatle experts who participated in that discussion in the thread above.
TIME magazine has an interesting article called Michael Jackson's estate: Saved by the Beatles. It details how the lucrative worth of the Beatles catalog may offset his financial troubles.
Lynne Hoskins of the ELO Showdown mailing got the straight word from Jeff Lynne's representatives about the reports, such as the Daily Express, that he's doing work on unreleased George Harrison songs: He has no plans to do anything on this now. In Lynne's words, "At some point, someday, Jeff may get involved. As of now, there is no schedule and there are no plans." If you're interested in joining the list and discussing ELO, you can find more information here.
An original Rickenbacker guitar played by George Harrison is being sold for $850,000 on this page (look for the Beatles picture). (Thanks to Kevin Still.)
Yoko Ono has installed an Imagine Peace billboard in Youngstown, PA., according to a report on her website.
Our post a couple of days ago about Liverpool Tours tour package of a McCartney Citi Field ticket and a Beatle walking tour in New York should have mentioned that accomodations are included.
The next edition of “Dennis Mitchell’s Breakfast With The Beatles” will feature a birthday celebration for Ringo Starr, who'll be turning 69. The show will include songs with and without the Beatles and some rare audio, including a 1965 interview on a bus in mid-America. It will be posted for on-demand listening early Sunday at www.beatlesradioshow.com.
