Ringo Starr will be a Hollywood star in 2010. Let's put it more directly: Ringo Starr will honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.

The announcement was made this week by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The nominees were chosen and ratified at a meeting of the Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce June 15.

Among other recording artists also getting a star in 2010: Randy Newman, Roy Orbison, Van Morrison, Bryan Adams, Chaka Khan and ZZ Top.

Here's the press release issued by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce:

“Hollywood’s class of 2010 has been selected! After much consideration, the Walk of Fame committee has selected 28 of our 'most talented' from more than 200 nominations!  Fans and tourists worldwide will enjoy seeing their favorite celebrities receive this rare accolade. What is even more exciting is that these particular recipients will have the distinctive honor of being selected during the year that celebrates the Walk of Fame’s 50th Anniversary,” stated Earl Lestz, Chairman of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee.

Back in April, we wrote that it was time for Ringo to get a Hollywood star. We started a petition that over 300 people signed. We're thrilled to finally see this happen.

Congratulations, Ringo. Peace and love!
