We hear that Bob Dylan toured Mendips, John Lennon's childhood home, while in Liverpool last week. According to the story that guides told visitors, he showed up at the house late in the day. He supposedly commented that some things, like the unheated bedroom, reminded him of his house in Minnesota. (thanks to gloi.)

Alan Fraser of the Dylan fan site Searching For a Gem gave us this account of Dylan's Liverpool show where he played George Harrison's "Something":

The Echo Arena is a large sports venue, with the stage set up at one end, and rows of seats on the floor of the arena. I was very close to the stage, in the first row of tiered seats. I heard people complaining about the sound afterwards, but it was good where I was sitting. To hear Bob play "Something" wasn’t too much of a surprise for me, because I knew he had played it before, and we were in Liverpool, after all. I recognised it as soon as Denny Freeman’s guitar played the opening chords and before Bob started singing. Bob sings every song in his own style, but he did make a very good job of the Harrison tune, and Denny Freeman did equally well recreating George’s solo. The crowd were much more taken aback and loved it. It was a typical Liverpool show, with an enormous amount of alcohol consumed before and during it, and very probably after it too! A guy got on stage and tried to hug Bob during "Blowin’ In The Wind," but he was quickly taken backstage.

Here's another review of the show by Michael Farry.

Here's a review of a tour of both Lennon and Paul McCartney's childhood home (unconnected to Dylan's visit) from VisitLiverpool.com.

Brian Ray's latest MySpace blog is a progress report on his next album, complete with video footage. He also discusses the "Change Begins Within" concert and Paul McCartney's performances at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival and at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas.

Pictures of Dhani Harrison and thenewno2 at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival are on j.marie's blog.

Issue 32 of the British Beatles Fan Club magazine features "Beatles 2008: A Day in the Life" and a report on the "Change Begins Within" concert in New York. For more information, see www.britishbeatlesfanclub.co.uk

The latest issue of Acoustic Rock has a cover story titled "The Stories Behind Rock's Greatest Acoustic Albums & Songs." One of the albums featured in the article is "The Beatles (White Album)" and it includes a six-page (actually five with the headline page) reprint of a 2001 article highlighting 12 tracks. Some not usually seen pics, as well.

We picked up the May issue of MOJO with the cover story "John & Yoko Uncovered." The 15-page article includes rare pictures and memories from photographer Henry Pessar, an interview with Yoko Ono, an extended analysis of their albums and more. And there's additional pics and video footage on the magazine's website.

Chris Carter's "Breakfast With the Beatles" playlist on KLOS-FM Sunday included "Only Seventeen" by The Beatle-etts, "Piggies," "I Am the Walrus," "Back in '64" by the Rutles and "Give Me the Beat" by Ringo Starr.

This week on "The Beatles Show," hosted by Casey Piotrowski: "I Wrote With George" -- People who wrote songs with George Harrison. To hear it on the internet, see the station website

Close but no cigar: The New Straits Times this week ran this correction: "IN For The Record column by Ahmad Izham Omar published last week, we inadvertently ran a photograph of The Mersey Beatles instead of The Beatles."
