Bernie Ilson, who was Ed Sullivan's press representative in the 1960s, talks about his book, "Sundays with Sullivan: How the Ed Sullivan Show Brought Elvis, the Beatles, and Culture to America", on this NPR Weekend Edition podcast.

A little clue for you all about "The Beatles: Rock Band", courtesy of Liz Lackey:

Hi,

I went into the preorder club at the "Beatles: Rock Band" website, and noticed that the game has been rated T (for teen) due to "mild lyrics" and "tobacco reference."  Hope this means that "A Day in the Life" and/or "I'm So Tired" will be available to play!

As a big fan of the Guitar Hero/Rock Band franchise, I'm really looking forward to this game's release!

The latest edition of “Dennis Mitchell’s Breakfast With The Beatles” is now available by going to http://www.beatlesradioshow.com. On this week's show: George Harrison's experimental album "Electronic Sound" was released 40 years ago this month, so this week the show explores The Beatles' fascination with new sounds, starting with "Tomorrow Never Knows" and evolving to their own purchase of a Moog synthesizer in 1969.  Plus, highlights of John & Yoko's appearance on "The Dick Cavett Show" during this week in 1972.

Sunday's edition of "Breakfast With the Beatles With Andre Gardner" featured a rehearsal take of "I Want You (She’s So Heavy)," "Hey Jude," an acetate of "I Need You," and a Mother's Day block of Beatle songs.

Yer Blog has a little Mother's Day Beatle tribute.

It was Mother's Day Sunday, but the Sun reported that Paul McCartney placed second as the guy you'd like to have as your dad. Stella McCartney placed second on the mother's side. Joanna Lumley, who we remember well in "The New Avengers," and tycoon Richard Branson placed first.

The cover for the revised version of That Magic Feeling: The Beatles' Recorded Legacy, Volume Two, 1966-1970, which will be out next month, can now be seen on Amazon.com. (It's also available from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.ca (Canada). We reviewed the first volume, "Way Beyond Compare: The Beatles' Recorded Legacy, Volume One, 1957-1965", earlier here on Examiner.com.

One of our very favorite female singer-comedians, Tracey Ullman, was honored with the first ever Charlie Chaplin award, a lifetime achievement honor, at the British Comedy Festival and Awards (BAFTA) Friday in Los Angeles, reports the BBC. Tracey, who had a role in Paul McCartney's "Give My Regards to Broad Street," made a fantastic album called "You Broke My Heart in 17 Places."  We love "They Don't Know," the song in the video above, which is from that album. It's a retro song that reminds us of the great girl group songs of the '60s and it always makes us smile for several reasons. Watch the video all the way through and you'll see what we mean.
