This date in 1958 is thought to be the day George Harrison joined the Quarrymen. George isn't in the audio clips contained in the top set, but it's the most complete collection of Quarrymen audio from the July 6, 1957 Woolton fete where John Lennon met Paul McCartney that we're aware of. The bottom clip is the two sides of a 1958 acetate. John Lennon sings lead vocal on the Quarrymen's cover of Buddy Holly's "That'll Be the Day." The other song, "In Spite of All the Danger," was composed by Paul McCartney and George Harrison. This is the Beatles before they became the Beatles. (Source: This Day in Music.)
