If, like myself, you won't be giving much thought to the Super Bowl today, here's some ideas to get you through the day:
A Beatles movie marathon: "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help!" are the obvious choices, but you could always bug the friendly Beatle fan you know who has "Let It Be" (for that rooftop concert anniversary that just passed), "Live at Shea Stadium" or that collection of Beatle videos that Apple hasn't found time to release.
A Beatles music special: Any combination of Beatle albums is a good choice, especially "Rock 'n' Roll Music" on a high-energy day like today. Or pick your favorite Beatle and play some of his solo albums. Or mix and match.
Grab a Beatle book: Newer books are obvious. Philip Norman's "John Lennon: The Life" is big enough to keep you busy through the endless pre-game, game action and post-game interviews. But maybe it's a good day for nostalgia. Hunter Davies' "The Beatles" has a lot of spin to it, but it's a fun read and it harkens back to a more innocent time. Nicholas Shaffner's "The Beatles Forever" is a charming work that puts the many reasons fans loved them then (and still love them now) in the pages of a book full of nostalgia.
Or: ""Monopoly: The Beatles Collector's Edition", a game in which you'll be trying to get something other than touchdowns.
Yeah, who needs football, anyway?
