On this date in Beatles history - Jan. 7 - a Fab magazine folds
- On this date in 1964,the Beatles record a session for the BBC radio series "Saturday Club" that won't air until February while they're touring the United States. The song list included two titles that weren't available legitimately until "Live at the BBC" was released in 1994: "The Hippy Hippy Shake," sung by Paul McCartney, which he kicked off his Liverpool concert with late last year, and "Johnny B. Goode," sung by John Lennon.
- In 2003, the Beatles Monthly Book published its final issue. It had started in August, 1963, published 77 issues, and was edited by Sean O'Mahony, under the name Johnny Dean. The magazine's articles featured up-close perspectives on current Beatle events. The initial run was reprinted from 1976-82 and featured the original issue inside a few added pages. Its writers included Tony Barrow, Neil Aspinall, Alan Clayson, Gillian Gaar, Mal Evans, Bill Harry, Mark Lewisohn and Peter Nash. Photographers included Dezo Hoffman, who took many iconic early photos of the Beatles.
